Wenzel II (Wenceslas), known as "the drunkard," was the son of Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV of the House of Luxembourg. Wenceslas was elected King of the Romans in 1376 -- a process usually reserved for men who will eventually become Emperor. After his father's death, he inherited the kingdom of Bohemia. Before he could take his place as Holy Roman Emperor, however, Wenceslas was deposed by the German princes of the Empire. They accused him of being weak and ignoring his responsibilities to his German lands in favor of his Bohemian holdings.
