Charles I silver "Death and Memorial" Medal ND (1649) XF (tooled, plugged), Eimer-163, MI-II-352/210. 46mm. Edge plain. A rare and dramatic medal struck upon the execution of Charles I, depicting a rampant seven-headed monster below which Charles's head lies besides his crown and sceptre. Despite the alteration to the surface and the neat plug at 12 o'clock, this medal retains its morbid charm and commands significant eye appeal, darkly toned with hints of iridescence playing across the surface.
