India, Gupta Dynasty, Chandragupta II (c. 380-414), gold dinar, couch type, king seated three-quarters left on couch, his feet folded up, his left elbow resting on the back of the couch and in his right hand he holds out a lotus bud, rev., Lakshmi, nimbate, seated left on couch, holding lotus with long stalk and with her right leg drawn up, 8.00g, die axis 12.00 (Altekar, Bayana hoard, 1189, pl. 34, 15), minor edge marks, good fine and extremely rare. From dies very close to or identical to the example in the Bayana hoard, classified as variety A (of classes A to C). BMC illustrates two examples of the class B dinar on pl. VI, 8-9, one in the BM (BMC 102) and the other in the Indian Museum.
