SICILY. Katane. Circa 461-450 BC. Litra (Silver, 10.5 mm, 0.76 g, 1 h). Head of Silenos to left, balding, with an animal ear, and a long beard extending through the dotted border. Rev. ΚΑΤ - ΑΝΕ Winged thunderbolt. Boehringer, Kataneische Li.2. Jameson 536. Rizzo pl. IX, 16. Rare, nicely toned and with a powerful, finely engraved head of Silenos. Extremely fine.
