2 Escudo 1698
2escudo with mint mark CM was minted in a rather small amount in mint in Peruvian Cuzco with one year inscription only: 1698. After the wars of the Spanish succession were over, there was a fleet sent from South America to Spain in 1715 carrying among other things a large number of golden and silver coins and gold and silver ingots, among them also several thounsands of golden coins with the year inscription 1698 from the mint in Cuzco. After the fleet drowned in a strong thunderstorm at the Florida coast, the whole load ended up on the sea floor. A part of the load was saved by the Spanish in the following years, it was later washed out during strong storms to the sea coast and collected in the second half of the 20th century by treasury seekers. Thanks to the rareness of the coins and an interesting story connected with them the escudo and 2escudo 1698 from the Cuzco mint are very valuable pieces for collectors

2escudo mit Münzmarke CM wurde in einer nicht großen Auflage in der Prägestätte in Peruan Cuzco nur mit einem Jahrgang 1698 geprägt. Nach den abgeschlossenen spanischen Erbfolgekriegen wurde im 1715 aus Südamerika nach Spanien eine Flottille entsandt, die außer anderem eine ungeheure Menge an goldenen und silbernen Münzen und goldenen und silbernen slitků überführte, unter ihnen auch einige Tausend goldenen Münzen mit Jahrgang 1698 aus der Prägestätte in Cuzco. Nachdem die Flottille im starken Strom an der Floridaküste versinkte, endete die gesamte Ladung auf dem Meeresgrund. Ein Teil der Ladung wurde in den folgenden Jahren duch die Spanier gerettet, später ausgeschwommen bei starken Stürmen auf die Küste und in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts durch die Schatzgräber eingesammelt. Dank der Seltenheit der Münzen und der spannenden Geschichte, die sich zu ihnen bezieht, sind die 1escudos und 2escudos 1698 aus der Prägestätte in Cuzco sehr geschätzt durch Sammler

2escuda s mincovní značkou CM byla ražena v nevelkém množství v mincovně v peruánském Cuzcu pouze s jediným letopočtem 1698. Po ukončení válek o španělské dědictví byla v roce 1715 z jižní Ameriky vypravena do Španělska flotila převážející mimo jiné ohromné množství zlatých a stříbrných mincí a zlatých a stříbrných slitků, mezi nimi též několik tisíc zlatých mincí s letopočtem 1698 z mincovny v Cuzcu. Poté, co se flotila potopila během silné bouře u břehů Floridy, skončil celý náklad na mořském dně. Část nákladu byla v následujících letech Španěly zachráněna, později vyplavena při silných bouřích na mořský břeh a v druhé polovině 20. století vyzdvižena hledači pokladů. Díky vzácnosti mincí a poutavému příběhu, který se k nim vztahuje, jsou escuda a 2escuda 1698 z mincovny v Cuzcu sběratelsky velmi ceněnými předměty
