The Roman Empire

Hadrian augustus, 117 – 138. Aureus circa 134-138, AV 7.30 g. Bare-headed and draped bust r. Rev. Hadrian on l. standing r., raising r. hand and holding scroll in l. and clasping hands with Fortuna standing l., holding cornucopia. C –. RIC 243 var. (not draped). Calico 1262 var. (not draped).
Of the highest rarity, apparently only the fourth specimen known of this type and
the only one in private hands. A superb portrait of fine style and
a lovely reddish tone. Good very fine
