Basil II Bulgaroctonos, 976 – 1025, with Constantine VIII, co-emperor throughout the reign. Tetarteron 977-1004, AV 4.06 g. Bust of Christ facing, wearing nimbus crown ornamented with pellets, pallium, and colobium, raising r. hand in benediction, book of Gospels cradled in l. arm. Rev. Facing busts of Basil II, wearing loros of lozenge pattern, and Constantine VIII, wearing plain chlamys pinned at r. shoulder, holding patriarchal cross between them. DO 8b. Sear 1802.
