The Empire of Nicea, John III Ducas called Vatatzes, 1221 – 3 November 1254. Hyperpyron nomisma, Magnesia 1232-1254 (?), AV 4.15 g. Christ Pantokrator enthroned facing; pellets at ends of throne, small cross above to l. Rev. John standing facing, holding labarum, being crowned by the Virgin Mary. DO 4c. Sear 2073.
