Marcus Aurelius augustus, 161 – 180. Sestertius 176-177, Æ 29.20 g. M ANTONINVS AVG – GERM SARM TR P XXXI Laureate head r., drapery on l. shoulder. Rev. IMP VIII COS III – P P M. Aurelius and Commodus seated l. on platform; behind them, officer holding sceptre. To l., Liberalitas standing l., holding abacus. Below, citizen mounting steps, holding out fold of toga in both hands; in field at sides, S – C and in exergue, LIBERALITAS / AVG VII. C 424 var. (without drapery). BMC 1606. RIC 1208 var. Very rare and in unusually good condition for this type. Struck on a full flan with
an attractive green patina and extremely fine
