India Government of India, Calcutta 2 Rupees, 8 Annas ND (1917) Pick 2 Jhunjhunwalla-Razack 3.3.1 PMG Choice About Unc 58. Amazingly choice and of course very rare, this interesting lower denomination was printed in only small quantities. The city code is the letter in the fractional prefix, which means for this note that Calcutta was the release point. Additionally, this is the first prefix for the type. Only minimal signs of circulation are present on this example, which exhibits original paper and punch-through embossing, which is still clearly visible. All notes feature the signature of MMS Gubbay. Assuredly one of the finest known examples of this rare denomination, and the highest quality example we have offered.
