India Government of India 10 Rupees Calcutta 12.11.1917 Pick A10gx Contemporary Counterfeit Very Fine. An intriguing counterfeit meant to circulate at the time of issue. Counterfeiters spent considerable time around the turn of the century, and the somewhat simple design of Indian notes at the time were a target. This example is not as well done, lacking the intricate details in the design that it needs to trick a diligent businessperson. In haste, it could be easily accepted. Prior to circulating counterfeits, these nefarious individuals would wear down the notes, and create small problems like the missing corner here to hide the lack of details, and create trust in the recipient.
