Faeroe Islands Second Emergency Issue 1; 5; 10 Kroner 11.1940 Pick 9s; 10s; 11as Specimen PMG Graded. Denmark was invaded and occupied by the Germans on April 9, 1940. This cut the Faeroe Islands off from the home country. First Lord of the Admiralty Winston Churchill made the announcement on April 11 that the Faeroes would be occupied by the British. The first British forces landed on April 12. First, overprinted circulation notes were used in the islands. October 1940 saw the First Emergency Issue of two denominations. The Second Emergency Issue had four denominations and the Specimen in this lot are of the three lowest denominations. The 1 Krone grades Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ, the 5 Kroner grades Choice Uncirculated 63, and the 10 Kroner grades Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. All three Specimen have the usual printer's annotations. The 1 Krone and 10 Kroner have been perforated with "Specimen." The 5 Kroner has 2 POC. HID08701242017
