Banque de Syrie 1920 First and Second Issue Specimen Book with 12 Different Denominations of Each Side. A Banque de Syrie letterhead dated 11 October 1921 is tipped into the Specimen book in this lot. A partial translation tells us that the Banque de Syrie is pleased to provide a certain dignitary with an album of Specimens of Syrian notes. These rare Specimens are glued to the pages of the book that has the following dimensions of 215mm by 130mm. Two examples show each side of a Pick 6s on one page. The following notes show usually the backs first on one page, followed by the front on another page. Pick numbers in booklet order are 1s 1 Piastre, 11s 5 Piastres, 12s 10 Piastres, 13s 25 Piastres, 14s 50 Piastres, 15s 100 Piastres, 16s 500 Piastres, 17s 10 Livres, 18s 25 Livres, 9s 50 Livres, 10s 100 Livres, and 19s 100 Livres. Both sides of the Pick 10s and Pick 19s have been folded near the right or left edge in order for the Specimens to fit the page. All of the examples have either "Specimen" rubber stamped or perforated on the note. The Specimens are not graded in this lot as they are affixed to pages.
