Gallienus. AD 253-268. Antoninianus (20mm, 2.92 g, 6h). Rome mint, 5th officina. 6th issue, AD 260-261. GALLIENVS AVG, radiate, helmeted (Corinthian type), and cuirassed bust left, viewed from front, holding spear and shield / PAX AVG, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and transverse sceptre; V in left field. MIR 36, 366u2 (same obv. die as illustration); RIC V (sole reign) 256 var. (bust type and position of mint-mark); Cunetio –; Normanby –; Chalfont –. Good VF, thin flan crack. Extremely rare, only one noted by MIR (in the KHM [Vienna]).

MIR lists four specimens of this type, but distinguishes between Roman (3) and Corinthian (1) helmets. This is a second example of the latter, from the same obverse die as the illustrated specimen.
