Pour servir a l'Histoire Generale des Voyages. Par M.B. Ing de la Marine 1754. Echelle de Lieues communes de France," 1754, hand colored. 13" x 10" (image size 11-1/2" x 7-3/4"). From Jacques Nicolas Bellin's 1764 Le Petit Atlas Maritime Recueil De Cartes Et Plans Des Quatre Parties Du Monde. In 1721 at age 18, Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772) was appointed chief cartographer to the French Navy and in 1741, he was named official hydrographer to the French king. Nicely hand colored on fine period handmade laid paper containing a French watermark and centerfold as issued.
