Chinese blue-on-white porcelain kraak bowl medallion, bird-on-rock motif, Ming Dynasty, Wanli Period, from the "Wanli Wreck" (ca. 1625). 150 grams, 5" diameter. From a Portuguese shipwreck off the coast of Malaysia dubbed the "Wanli Wreck" for the king who ruled at the time the pottery aboard was made comes this attractive cut-down ten-sided lid from a larger dish whose edges were damaged (typical for this wreck). Lovely, vivid scene of flowers and bird perched on a tree. Purchased by the consignor direct from the salvager, Sten Sjostrand. From the "Wanli Wreck" (ca. 1625), with certificate and printed information, sticker #32.
