Large, British pewter plate with touchmark for Townsend and Compton of London (1784-1802). 1235 grams, 13-3/8" diameter. Salvaged pewter plate in very nice condition with touchmarks on the bottom from the Townsend and Compton company, a well-known English pewter maker plus AD stamped on outside section of top. Some erosion of metal and a couple of tiny holes, as befits its time underwater. Found in Charleston harbor (South Carolina).
