Brass ship's inkwell, probably British, ca. 1820. 930 grams, 5" tall, 8-3/8" diameter. More functional than fancy, this brass piece would have been screwed into a table top (hence the four neat holes in the broad base) so as not to move around on rolling seas. A broad, flat circular base secures a hinged-lidded inkwell, all in excellent condition.
