USA (San Francisco mint), gold $20 coronet Liberty "double eagle," 1857-S, variety 20F (no serif, right S), PCGS MS64 / SS Central America. From the first SS Central America salvage operation. Excellent fields and free from large bagmarks, sharply struck, on the higher end of MS64, quite lustrous with mottled red-orange toning. PCGS SSCA 2667 (gold label). Recovered from: S.S. Central America, sunk in 1857 in deep water off North Carolina
