Potosi, Bolivia, cob 1/2 real, Philip II, assayer B (5th period) to left, mintmark P to right, borders of x's, mounted monogram-side out in 14K gold bezel with shackle bail. 4.63 grams total. Great coin with choice full cross, monogram and crown, bold full B-P, clear borders of x's, nicely toned AXF, the bezel with intentional dents for rustic effect. With photo-certificate, the coin pedigreed the Paul Karon collection (Ponterio, March 1990) and the "Americas" collection (Kagin's, August 1983) and to our Auction #17, lot #890.
