Popayan, Colombia, bust 8 escudos, Ferdinand VII (bust of Charles IV), 1816FR, mintmark PN., no dot before mintmark or AUSPICE, NGC AU 53. Restrepo-128.25b; CT-86; KM-66.3. Good luster, with some high-point wear and minimal marks, one of several sub-varieties for this date, the PN mintmark (as opposed to just P) believed to be indicative of having been struck by patriots after 1820 using old colonial dies. NGC #3069834-003.
