ZIYANID: Imitation, ca. 14th/15th century, AV dinar (4.58g), "Tilimsan ", ND, A-515.2var, H-H-, imitating the standard dinar of Abu Tashufin 'Abd al-Rahman I (1318-1337), with numerous spelling errors and stylistic calligraphy, EF, R. The mint name should read "tilimsân ", but it appears as a couple of meaningless symbols, followed by the central portion of the mint name engraved as "muhammad ". Hazard lists imitations based on Almohad, Hafsid, and Merinid prototypes, but none based on Ziyanid dinars.
