This is apparently the third known specimen listed on CoinArchives, from Editions V. Gadoury, Auction 2017, Lot 433, the other from iNumis Mail Bid Sale 30, Lot 1313 (also with similar scratches in the obverse field!). The conquest of Lower Egypt ended at the beginning of the year VII (September 1798). Baron Dominique Denon participated in the campgne d'Egypte where he made the survey of many monuments he published: Voyage dans la basse et haute Égypte, an X (1802); After becoming general director of the Museums, he organized the Louvre Museum. The representation of the Nile is inspired by the ancient statue of the Vatican Museum on which the children symbolize the cubits of the river in flood.
