DURRANI: Ahmad Shah, 1747-1772, AR rupee (11.48g), Shahjahanabad (Delhi), AH1170 year 11, A-3092, the symbol after the date that has occasionally been misinterpreted as a "5 " for the year "1175 " is actually the "h " of the word shah., EF-AU. Struck during Ahmad Shah's Fourth invasion of India. Early in 1757, he sacked Delhi, but permitted the Mughal dynasty to remain in nominal control as long as the ruler acknowledged Ahmad Shah's suzerainty over the Punjab, Sindh, and Kashmir.
