Anonymous. 194-190 BC. Æ Semis (26.5mm, 11.64 g, 10h). Crescent series. Rome mint. Laureate head of Saturn right; S (mark of value) to left / Prow of galley right; crescent above, S (mark of value) to right. Crawford 137/3; Sydenham 267a; Type as RBW 612. VF, dark green patina, some roughness and light smoothing.

From the Andrew McCabe Collection. Ex Artemide Aste 19.2E (21 October 2012), lot 2175.

Aside from general stylistic links to the bronzes of the RRC 137 series, the RRC 137 semis is distinguishable from that of RRC 57 by the value mark placement: before rather than above the prow. [Andrew McCabe]
