The Republicans. Brutus. Late summer-autumn 42 BC. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.75 g, 12h). Military mint traveling with Brutus and Cassius in western Asia Minor or northern Greece. L. Plaetorius Cestianus, moneyer. Laureate, veiled, and draped female (Ceres?) bust right, wearing polos / Sacrificial axe and simpulum. Crawford 508/2; CRI 214; Sydenham 1300; RSC 2; Type as RBW 1781. Near EF, light iridescent toning, a few light marks and scratches, small test cut on edge. Rare.
