Octavian, as Sole Imperator (31-27 BC). AR denarius (19mm, 3.64 gm, 5h). NGC Choice VF 4/5 - 1/5, smoothing, scratches, bankers mark. Rome or Italian mint, autumn 30 BC. Victory standing right on prow of galley, palm in left hand over shoulder, wreath upward in right hand / IMP•CAESAR, Octavian driving triumphal quadriga right, laurel branch in right hand, reins in left. The reverse on this series commemorates Octavian's entry into Alexandria and was likely struck from the first batch of silver he seized from the Ptolemaic treasury and sent back to Rome.
