South Africa, two original steel dies: a lower obverse die for a gold Pond 1892, KM 10.1, F 2, and an upper reverse die for a gold Pond 1900, KM 10.2, F 2. Measurements: lower die: height: 46 mm, diameter: 49 mm, weight: 592 g; Upper die: height: 36 mm, diameter: 36 mm, weight: 375 g. The 1892 was cut and used in Berlin in a hand-operated minting machine whereas the later die was used in Pretoria in a high-speed machine. Enclosed is two off metal strikes professionally made by the Danish engraver and medalist, Bent Jensen, in copper and silver respectively - A truly unique and highly interesting ensemble.
