CRUSADER IMITATIONS OF ARABIC COINS. KINGDOM OF JERUSALEM. Imitative Gold Coinage with the Fineness of 2/3, Mint: Accon. Imitation of a Fatimid dinar of the caliph al-Âmir bi-ahkâmi llâh, 495-524 H./1101-1130 AD. from the mint of Misr, no date, final stage of immobilization with two dots side by side below 'âl-ghâya in obv. centre as indication of fineness, and a crescent below al-imâm al-mansûr in obv. Balog/Yvon 30; Metcalf 136? 3.25 g, specific gravity 14.0. 13th century fabric with a flan hammered out from a square piece of sheet metal. Very rare variety.
Very fine

Bought from Schweizerische Bankgesellschaft, Zürich Coin Fair 1988. This is apparently a very late issue because the fineness already corresponds to the following bezants with the Christian creed, struck from 1251 onwards.
