CRUSADER IMITATIONS OF ARABIC COINS. KINGDOM OF JERUSALEM. Christian Gold Coinage, about 15 3/4 Carats Struck 1251-1258 and 1261, Mint: Acc. Bezant with Christian Arabic legends 125(3?) AD, 'Akkâ. obv. centre: alâh / wâhid, inner legend: :+ al-ab wa l-ibn wa r-rûh al-qud[s], outer marginal legend: (durib bi-'Akkâ sanat alf wa mi'a)tayn ahad wa khamsîn li-tajassud al-masîh. Rev. Cross in circle, inner marginal legend: + wa q[iy]âm[atun]â wa-bihi takhallusunâ wa 'unuqunâ (?), outer marginal legend: naftakhar bi-salîb rabbinâ yasû' al-masîh alladhî bihi salâmatunâ wa hâyan. Balog/Yvon 40ff; Metcalf 144. 2.90 g, specific gravity 14.1. Typical flan, hammered out from a piece of gold rod.
