CRUSADER IMITATIONS OF ARABIC COINS. KINGDOM OF JERUSALEM. Arabic Silver Struck after the Papal Interdict of 1251. 1st type: large cross in circle in the obverse centre, 1251-1253, possibly for internal circulation in the kingdom of Jerusalem. Dirham 1251 AD., mint of 'Akkâ. in square: allâh wâhid huwa / al-î (interrupted by the cross) mân / wâ - hid / al-ma'mûdîya wâhid (Allâh is one, He is the one confession, one baptism), margin: duriba bi-'Akkâ - sanata alf - wa-mi'atayn - ahad wa-khamsîn (struck in Accon in the year 1251), reverse in square: al-ab wa l-ibn / wa r-rûh al-quds / alâh wâhid (the father and the son and the holy ghost are one god), margin: lillâhi l-majd - ilâ abada - l-abadîn - amîn amîn (glory to God forever and ever, amen). Schlumberger V 28; Balog/Yvon 42var. (without li-tajassud after the date). Extremely rare with fully legible marginal legends.
