CRUSADER IMITATIONS OF ARABIC COINS. KINGDOM OF JERUSALEM. Continuation of the Ayyubid Type with Date 1253. A lot of 31 dirhams all dated 1253 AD as above. Mostly with parts of the date visible and very fine, some better 400.-. Bought between October 1974 and February 2014. An ideal collection of material from which to resume the die studies started by Michael Bates, who had found 44 obverse dies and 37 reverse dies in a total of 67 specimens (Bates p. 404).
