Treasury Series, John Bradbury (1914-1919), a printers' hand-executed essay/proof for the proposed issue of £1, ND ( 9 August 1914), no serial numbers, black and white, head of George V in vertical panel at left; G above, R below, value in black panel at centre, pound symbol at right,, (EPM T1 for type, Pick 347 for type, Banknote Yearbook TR10a for type), a fascinating piece of notaphilic history with ink annotation in field: 'This is the first pull from the first engraved plate Sunday 9 Aug 1914'. The war against Germany was declared on August 4th. This note illustrated in EPM, page 17. A wonderful and well-engraved note.
