Bank of England, Thomas Rippon (1829-1835), £100, Manchester 23 July 1832, serial number 3271, black and white, ornate crowned vignette of Britannia top left, 'I promise to pay to Thos. Rippon or Bearer on demand the sum of One Hundred Pounds', value in black tablet low left, printed serial number, date, manuscript signature low right of Wade,, (EPM B202a, Pick 216), in PMG holder 20 Very Fine, minor annotations as to be expected on a high-denomination note of the period. In superb condition for an extreme rarity. All Rippon notes rare; only one or two examples of the £100 believed extant and all probably from one 'find' - this £100 note was in that discovery. Probably the only example extant today in private hands and a wonderful note.

Estimate: £35000 - £45000
