Bank of England, Ernest Musgrave Harvey (1918-1925), a printers archival proof/design for a proposed issue of £1, ND (1924), serial number A/1 000000, blue, brown and green, ornate crowned vignette of Britannia top left, value low left and top right, ornate background detail in field, signature of E.M. Harvey low right, reverse blue, mauve and green, helmeted head of Minerva in circular frame top centre, arabesque framework in field,, (EPM B unlisted, Pick unrecorded), in PMG holder 63 EPQ Choice Uncirculated. A unique banknote and of a type that 'never existed'. Gold was standard and the Bank of England pound note was last issued in 1826. There was obviously the intention to bring back the pound note although this did not happen until the Mahon £1 of 1928. Truly beautiful and an important piece of the history and development of currency at the time.

Estimate: £10000 - £14000
