MESOPOTAMIA, Edessa. Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (25.5mm, 14.20 g, 12h). Struck circa AD 215-217. Laureate and cuirassed bust right, with gorgoneion on breastplate / Eagle standing right, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; between legs, shrine with pediment. Prieur 843-4 var. (rev. type; eagle standing facing). VF, some minor porosity, copper oxide deposit on the reverse, reverse struck slightly off center. Extremely rare, reverse type not known to Prieur.
