Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Pb "Limes" Denarius (18.5mm, 2.72 g, 1h). Uncertain eastern mint. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / PONTIE (sic) MAX TR P II COS II P P, Roma seated left, holding Nike and spear; shield beside throne. RIC IV 271 note = BMCRE 1066 (same dies) = RSC 470b. VF, earthen black patina. Very rare, none in CoinArchives.
The BM specimen is visible on their website; there noted as Museum number R.16216. RIC notes that the reverse is likely imitating an issue of Elagabalus, as Severus Alexander did not attain COS II until he was TR P V.
