Nero Fourrée Mule Denarius. Uncertain (Asia Minor?) mint, after AD 75. NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, laureate head right / Eagle standing facing on altar, with wings spread and head left; COS V[?] across fields. Elsen 135, lot 182 (same dies), otherwise unpublished; for the obv. of Nero, cf. RIC 49 & BMCRE 63; for the rev. of Titus, cf. RIC 861 & 872. 3.02g, 20mm, 6h.
Very Fine. Areas of exposed bronze core, old cabinet tone. An interesting fourrée combining an obverse of Nero from circa AD 65 with a reverse possibly of Titus from 10 years later in AD 75, and perhaps the second known example after the example in Elsen 135.
