SELEUKID EMPIRE. Seleukos I Nikator. As satrap, 321-315 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 17.15 g, 5h). In the name of Philip III of Macedon, types of Alexander III. Babylon (II) mint. Struck circa 318/7-315 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, ΔA above monogram; below throne, Z above strut. SC CAd43.3; Duyrat, Arados 877 = Armenak 161 (Arados mint); Price P139; HGC 9, 11 var. (unlisted issue). VF, lightly toned, a little off center. Extremely rare, only three in Pella (including the sole piece noted by Duyrat), one in CoinArchives (CNG 108, lot 259 [hammer $2100] = CNG E-292, lot 194).
