A very rare German-produced medal produced to commemorate the visit of Chinese politician, general, diplomat, and Viceroy of the Chihli Province Li Huang Chang (Li Hongzhang) to Hamburg. Know for both his success in the suppression of the Taiping Rebellion and well as his failures in supporting Russia against the Japanese, he served as a pioneer of the Chinese military as well as leading its industrial modernization.
