Szechuan. Kuang-hsü 50 Cents ND (1898-1908) XF40 NGC, KM-Y237, L&M-347. Variety with narrow face dragon. A comparatively fine example of this conditionally rare type, with the vast majority of certified specimens across both NGC and PCGS grading in the VF range or lower. We note that a comparable though not as beautifully sunset-toned example of this same type, sold raw and described as EF, hammered for $2600 in Baldwin's August 2013 Hong Kong Auction (lot 30317).
