Szechuan. Hsüan-t'ung Dollar ND (1909-1911) AU55 PCGS, KM-Y243.1, L&M-352. Variety with the V in PROVINCE replaced with an inverted A. A usually quite prolific emission, the PCGS census reporting 14 times as many VF and XF examples certified as AU's, this bold dollar represents a laudable survivor. Sharply struck towards the centers and just lightly rubbed on the highest points, the toning pattern of darker hues at the extremities bleeding into lighter colors as it moves inwards, creating an almost bull's eye effect that narrows the viewer's focus to the central motifs.
