Republic Yuan Shih-kai "Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1916) UNC Detail (Cleaned) PCGS, KM-Y332, L&M-942. Commemorating the inauguration of Yuan Shih-kai as Emperor Hung-hsien. Perhaps one of the most recognizable of the early Republican coin designs, alongside the ubiquitous "Fat man" and "Junk Dollars", and certainly one of the most coveted, presented here with a classically high medallic relief to the new emperor's portrait and reverse dragon. While hairlines do appear over the surfaces, a strong backlight and natural tone persist, aided by what is truly a fantastic strike.
