People's Republic bi-metallic gold & silver Proof Panda 500 Yuan (5 oz AU, 2 oz Ag) 1995 Proof Details (Tooled) NGC, KM728, Cheng-pg. 169, 1, PAN-241A. Mintage: 199. Fully enticing and quite the rare issue for the advanced panda collector to be sure, brilliant, full mirror-like detail preserved throughout its large flan which appears perfectly paired with the heavily frosted matte center of the reverse. Despite the typically harsh connotations of the "tooled" designation, the only indication we have been able to locate on the coin is what appears to be a barely perceptible tiny hairline scratch about a centimeter from the outline of the left panda, beginning around its right paw and ending around its right foot--hardly what could be considered an attempt at strengthening the features. Stamped serial #087 on the edge at 6 o'clock, and here offered with its original mint presentation case.
