China Board of Revenue 50 Taels 1854 (Year 4) Pick A13b S/M#H176-14 PMG Very Fine 30 Net. The highest denomination of the Board of Revenue series, for 50 Taels of silver. A Chihli place of issue is seen on the face. All features are excellent, from the vermillion inks used on the stamps to the intricate blue-ink border. High denomination paper money as such (as well as coins) was issued during the Xianfeng Era as China experienced numerous wars, rebellions, and economic weakness.
