China Board of Revenue 50 Taels 1854 (Year 4) Pick A13b S/M#H176-14 PMG Very Fine 30 Net. The highest denomination of the Board of Revenue series, for 50 Taels of silver. A Chihli place of issue is seen on the face. All features are excellent, from the vermillion inks used on the stamps to the intricate blue-ink border. High denomination paper money as such (as well as coins) was issued during the Xianfeng Era as China experienced numerous wars, rebellions, and economic weakness. However, most were expected to have been redeemed in the years after. Paper damage and backing are noted. HID08701242017
