Hong Kong Mercantile Bank of India, Ltd. 50 Dollars ND (1912-30) Pick 238cts KNB14 Color Trial Specimen PMG About Uncirculated 53. As rare as it is stunning, this elusive denomination from the Mercantile Bank of India is seldom encountered in any format, in any grade. An iconic early 20th century Hong Kong note, of which only a few examples are known in Specimen and Color Trial Form. The printed signature at right is indicative of 1912 Mercantile Bank issues, which suggests that this Color Trial was created during the early run of this note's tenure. Deep blue hues create for a striking appearance on this trial, which contrasts the issued type, which was printed with mostly brown and orange color schemes. A handsome Waterlow & Sons engraving, with red overprints and seven hole punched cancellations. An important offering which should entice collectors with a variety of specialties. The first we have offered. HID08701242017
