Dryantilla, Augusta, 260. Antoninianus (Silver, 17 mm, 2.51 g, 7 h), Carnuntum. SV[LP DRYANTI]LLA AVG Diademed and draped bust of Dryantilla set on crescent to right. Rev. [IV]NONI R[EGINE] Juno standing front, head to left, holding patera in her right hand and sceptre in her left. Cohen 1. MIR 1722a. RIC 2. Extremely rare. Crystallized and with some flan faults and scratches, and with the usual traces of overstriking, otherwise, about very fine.

Regalian's wife Dryantilla is only known from her extremely rare coinage, but an inscription in the Lycian city of Oinoanda refers to Gaius Sulpicius Iustus, proconsul of Lycia and Pamphylia in Severan time, and his brother and legate Gaius Sulpicius Pollio, who were the sons of Claudia Dryantilla and Sulpicius Pollio and the nephews of Sulpicia Agrippina, wife of Quintus Pompeius Sosius, consul in 193. It is very likely that Dryantilla was the daughter of either Gaius Sulpicius Iustus or Gaius Sulpicius Pollio and named her after her grandmother Claudia Dryantilla: she was, thus, born into a wealthy and influential family of senatorial descent and a good catch for the general Regalian.
