KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.11 g, 4 h), Carrhae, struck under Seleukos I, circa 305-300. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣΙΛΕΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, crescent above ΔI; below throne, monogram of AYP within circle. Price 3818. SC 41.3c. A beautiful coin, sharply struck and of bold style. Nearly extremely fine.
