KINGS OF MACEDON. Antigonos III Doson, 229-221 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 29 mm, 14.85 g, 12 h), irregular mint, imitating Amphipolis, after circa 227-225. Head of Poseidon to right, wearing wreath of seaweed. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΓΟΝΟΥ Apollo seated to left on prow, holding bow in his right hand; below, monogram. Cf. SNG Alpha Bank 1046 (for prototype). A beautifully toned and well made contemporary plated forgery. The reverse slightly double struck, otherwise, about extremely fine.
