ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Kos. Circa 350-345 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 15.02 g, 1 h), Athamas, magistrate. Bearded head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΘAMAΣ / KΩION Veiled head of Demeter to left. Pixodarus p. 232, 13a (A7/P8), pl. 38 (this coin). Beautifully toned and of powerful style. Some surface problems from cleaning and the reverse struck from a somewhat worn die, otherwise, good very fine.
